Start with the teeth you want to live with—not an implant count.
Replacing many missing or failing teeth requires a plan for function, appearance and everyday care. Sungshim Dental’s implant center presents full-mouth digital planning and All-on-X cases. A consultation helps determine whether a full-arch solution, a smaller restoration or another option fits your needs.

Full arch and full mouth: what do they mean?
A full arch replaces a complete upper or lower row of teeth. Full-mouth treatment may involve both arches. All-on-X describes an arch supported by a planned number of implants. The number, positions and restoration design are clinical decisions—not something to choose from a headline alone.
Compare the restoration you will use every day
| Discussion point | Fixed implant bridge | Removable implant overdenture |
|---|---|---|
| Removal | Generally removed by a dental professional when indicated. | Designed for the patient to remove. |
| Daily care | Requires access to clean beneath and around the bridge. | Requires cleaning the denture and supporting structures. |
| Planning | Tooth position, space, bite and cleaning access matter. | Fit, retention, space and ease of handling matter. |
These are options to discuss, not a confirmation that every design is appropriate for you. Ask which options are available for your case.
Plan the final teeth before surgery
Our digital planning information brings CBCT, intraoral scans and facial information into the same workflow. Planning the future tooth shape and position helps connect the implant placement plan with the intended restoration.
Our in-house dental lab is part of the restorative workflow. Discuss the proposed materials, temporary teeth, final restoration and how adjustments will be managed.
A realistic treatment sequence
Assess teeth that may be preserved, gums, bone, health history and goals.
Review alternatives, surgery, temporary teeth and the expected healing stages.
Fit the planned restoration and learn the maintenance routine it needs.
What “teeth in a day” does—and does not—tell you
Immediate temporary teeth may be possible for selected cases. That does not mean every patient receives their final teeth on the day of surgery. Ask whether a same-day restoration would be temporary, what conditions must be met, and what the backup plan is if immediate loading is unsuitable.
Ask about healing complications, implant failure, cleaning challenges and future repairs. A full-arch plan includes long-term care, not just placement day.
Full-arch design: more than replacing a row of teeth
Discuss tooth position, lip support, speech, bite and the space needed for the restoration. Ask how the proposed design will be evaluated before the final teeth are made and what adjustments may be needed.
Cleaning access is also part of the design. Ask for a demonstration of how you will reach beneath a fixed bridge, or remove and clean a removable restoration. A design needs to suit your daily routine as well as your appearance goals.

Full-mouth planning with an in-house dental lab in Honolulu
Sungshim Dental’s digital workflow brings the planned teeth into the conversation before the final restoration is made. The full-mouth design demonstration below shows the relationship between implant planning and the future prosthesis. Our on-site technician and dentists can discuss tooth form, shade and the bite directly.
Start with the teeth
A full-arch plan includes the shape and position of the replacement teeth, as well as how the restoration will function and be cleaned. Bring your concerns about chewing, appearance and your current dentures.
Connect planning and fabrication
Our office has digital oral scanners and two five-axis milling units. The in-house lab supports coordination between the digital design and fabrication stages of prosthetic care.
Separate temporary from final teeth
Ask what you would wear during healing and how the final restoration will differ. Timing and suitability for immediate temporary teeth depend on your examination and treatment plan.

Questions patients ask
Is All-on-4 the same as every full-arch implant treatment?
No. It is one approach. The appropriate implant number and layout depend on your anatomy and the planned restoration.
Will all remaining teeth need to be removed?
Not necessarily. Ask which teeth can be predictably maintained and how that compares with replacement options.
Can I compare treatment plans from different offices?
Yes. Compare the same scope: arches treated, surgery, temporary and final teeth, materials, visits and ongoing care—not just the advertised implant count.
Implant planning with Dr. Jisu Kim
Dr. Jisu Kim is a U.S.- and Korea-licensed dentist whose clinical focus includes implant care. At Sungshim Dental, a full-arch consultation can draw on 3D CBCT, digital planning and coordination with the in-house dental lab. Ask which teeth may be maintained, whether extractions or bone grafting are indicated, and how temporary and final restorations would be staged. The answers depend on an examination and imaging.
